Welcome to ESU

The Health Department at East Stroudsburg University provides diverse opportunities for students interested in service careers in the Health professions.   The curriculum and experiences also provide a solid foundation for students wishing to pursue graduate school training.  The faculty within the Health Department at ESU are dedicated in preparing students for careers in both health education and administration.   At ESU, students receive innovative academic preparation, with an emphasis on health education theory and extensive applied experiences within professional settings.    The curriculum provides students with the opportunity to network with social service staff, and many of our students work part-time either as paid staff or volunteers as they pursue their undergraduate studies.  While many of our graduate students are already working in the field, similar opportunities exist.  In addition, the Health Department typically provides five to ten graduate assistantships per year.  The degree programs within the Health Department provide broad exposure to the health sciences, requiring students to take course work within health education, and within the biological, psychological, physical, environmental, and social sciences.    Upon completion of the degree programs, students are prepared to assess community needs, and design, implement and coordinate programs that promote health and prevent disease.  At ESU, students will receive solid preparation to contribute to the evolving fields of community and public health, school health, and health administration.
